CAUSATIVE GET & GOT
The past tense is "got", which is obviously used for past actions.
The verb by itself means "to receive", "to get", "to achieve", "to buy", "to acquire" and many others.
"I get a letter" = "Recibo una carta" = "I receive a letter".
I got a letter" = "Recibí una carta" = "I received a letter".
I get milk = "Compro/adquiero/consigo leche" = "I buy/acquire/get milk".
I got milk" = "compré/adquirí/conseguí leche".
It is a very useful verb because it accompanies many words to say quantities of things that in Spanish have their own verb. For example:
I get sick = Me enfermo
I get angry = Me enojo
I got sick = Me enfermé
I got angry = I got angry
